14-year-old rushed to hospital after hitting a rock when trying to dive into the sea

A 14-year-old boy was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital after he tried to jump into the sea but hit a rock instead at Tigne Point in Sliema.

Police said that the incident happened at around 3pm in a bay close to Tigne Point in Sliema.

Preliminary investigations carried out by district police concluded that the boy had tried to jump into the sea, but had hit the rocks of the bay instead.

The Civil Protection Department was called to assist the boy, and he was then taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
