60-year-old man dies after truck crashes into pole in Siġġiewi

A 60-year-old man from Żebbuġ died on Friday afternoon following a traffic accident in Siġġiewi, the police said.

The acccident occurred at around 6pm on Triq tal-Providenza, when the man was driving an Isuzu cement mixer that, according to preliminary investigations, crashed into an electricity pole.

Civil Protection Department officers and a medical team were immediately called to the scene. Despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced dead on site.

Magistrate Dr Joseph Mifsud LL.D has been informed of the case and has appointed an inquiry. Police investigations are ongoing.
