Two people injured in separate traffic accidents

A man and a woman were taken to Mater Dei Hospital after being injured in two separate traffic accidents on Monday.

The first accident occurred at around 10:30am in Triq tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi. Initial investigations found that a 50-year-old woman from Żabbar lost control of a vehicle, a Toyota Auris, and crashed into a wall. Also in the vehicle with her was a 28-year-old woman who resides in Safi.

The second accident occurred at around 10:45am on Triq Burmarrad, Burmarrad. Preliminary investigations found that a collision had occurred between a Land Rover driven by a 66-year-old man residing in St Paul’s Bay and a Piaggio Vespa motorcycle ridden by a 33-year-old man residing in Swieqi.

A medical team provided assistance at both incidents, and the motorcyclist as well as the 28-year-old passenger who was in the Toyota vehicle were taken to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. They were later certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
