Malta marks Freedom Day with wreath-laying ceremony

President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg, and representative of the Leader of the Opposition Robert Cutajar participated in a wreath-laying ceremony on the occasion of Freedom Day in front of the Freedom Monument in Birgu.

Freedom Day this year marks 47 years since the last of the British on the island. The national holiday is also celebrated with the traditional regatta race in the Grand Harbour and official activities in Birgu. Photo credit: DOI/Alan Saliba
