Hundreds of children attend ‘Enchanted Easter’ event in support of Puttinu Cares

Hundreds of children and their families gathered at Villa Francia in Lija for the annual ‘Enchanted Easter’ initiative, a festive event combining creativity, entertainment, and philanthropy in aid of Puttinu Cares.

The event, held the day after Easter, brought together the community to support the organisation’s work with vulnerable children and families.

The initiative transformed Villa Francia into a magical setting where children participated in a range of interactive and themed activities. These included decorating traditional Easter sweets, music and dance sessions, as well as chocolate-themed competitions, creating an atmosphere of joy and engagement for attendees of all ages.

The event was made possible through the voluntary contributions of artists and professionals from various fields. A highlight of this year’s initiative was the sale of ‘Giolli’ figolli, prepared in recent weeks by Giorgia Mae, daughter of the Prime Minister Robert Abela and Dr Lydia Abela, with the assistance of a pastry chef supporting the project. Proceeds from these sales, along with other funds raised during the event, will be donated in the coming days to Puttinu Cares.

In a message marking the occasion, Lydia Abela emphasised that ‘Enchanted Easter’ reflects the strong cultural significance of Easter traditions among the Maltese and Gozitan communities, particularly for children. She noted that the event provides a valuable space for young people to express creativity and imagination.

Abela also expressed gratitude towards Puttinu Cares for its ongoing dedication, highlighting the organisation’s vital role in supporting children and families during difficult times. She added that the strong public support for the organisation demonstrates the trust and solidarity it inspires across Malta and Gozo.
