Every student 'who applied and is eligible to attend' the Wardija School will be accepted

The Ministry for Education and Sport said all students who are eligible to attend a school for students with disabilities will be accepted.

The ministry was referring to the applications submitted by parents who expressed the wish for their children (adolescents and young adults) to attend Dun Manwel Attard School in Wardija. The school, which forms part of St Nicholas College and caters for students with disabilities aged between 16 and 22, will now be able to accommodate all eligible students who applied.

This follows the allocation in recent days of additional human resources, including teachers and Learning Support Educators (LSEs), who will provide the necessary support and services to students attending the school.

The Ministry said all parents and students who recently received a letter indicating that it was not possible for them to secure a place at the school that they will now be able to attend as from the upcoming scholastic year. In the coming days, they will receive a further letter confirming their admission.

The Ministry said it remained committed to further strengthening this school, which has made and will continue to make a significant and positive contribution to the lives of its students and their families.

The introduction of the LifeMap programme, together with this development at the Wardija School, means that every student who wishes to continue their education in a post-secondary setting will have the opportunity to further develop their abilities, acquire new skills, and continue their educational journey in an inclusive environment.
