European Parliament jokes Malta has ‘zero train delays’ in Facebook poll

The European Parliament has sparked amusement online after posting a light-hearted Facebook poll asking users which EU country has “zero train delays,” to which the answer was Malta.

The post offered four options: Germany, Malta, Sweden, and Latvia.

In a follow-up comment, the EP revealed the answer with a joke aimed at Malta’s lack of a railway system.

“And the answer is… Malta!” the comment read. “There are no railway lines at all in this sunny island in the Mediterranean!”

The comment then shifted to a more serious message about the EU’s efforts to improve rail transport across Europe.

“But for the rest of the EU, Parliament has given the go-ahead on rules to increase railway reliability and avoid delays as we take train journeys across Europe,” the comment read.

The post linked to a European Parliament page outlining newly approved EU railway rules designed to improve cross-border rail coordination and reduce delays.
