PM meets PL parliamentary group, Naomi Cachia reappointed whip
Naomi Cachia was reappointed whip of the Labour Party Parliamentary Group which today met for the first time since the election.
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister and Labour Party Leader Robert Abela explained the importance of the Labour Party Parliamentary Group role in the implementation of Int Malta electoral manifesto, a PL statement said.
Abela stated that the Labour Government has more than 1,000 proposals that it will implement, and said that in the first 100 days it will send a clear signal that what the PL promised will be delivered for the benefit of the Maltese and Gozitans.
He said that during the first Cabinet meeting a clear message was given to the people that they will have greater peace of mind on issues affecting different sectors of society, as well as the importance of laws to strengthen equality, and other necessary reforms, such as in the IVF sector.
The Prime Minister said that with his team of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and MPs; and the strong trust given by the people to this Government, work will continue within the framework of the Malta Vision 2050, with an emphasis on quality of life and the wellbeing of families as promised through the wellbeing index, which was a key proposal in the manifesto.
During this meeting, Dr Naomi Cachia was appointed Government Whip, while the Deputy Whip will be Fleur Abela.
The meeting of the Parliamentary Group was held ahead of the official opening of Parliament, when the elected candidates will take the oath of office in the House of Representatives during a ceremony to be held on Saturday morning.
