Three Kings procession draws crowds to Xagħra for Epiphany celebrations

The La Cavalcata dei Re Magi was held in Victory Square, Xagħra on Sunday, to mark the feast of the Epiphany.

The biblical re-enactment, organised by the Il-Milied Fix-Xagħra Association in collaboration with the Marija Bambina Parish, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning and the Xagħra Local Council, once again proved an attraction for locals and visitors.

At 10.30am, the Three Kings arrived on horseback converging on the square in a dramatic entrance. Dressed in rich attire and accompanied by pages, the Magi presented the traditional gifts of gold, incense and myrrh and paid homage to the Baby Jesus.

The re-enactment, first held in Xagħra in 2010, has become a highlight of the village’s Christmas programme and continues to attract large crowds to the square and church parvis each year.
