Two arrested in connection with series of thefts from vehicles

Two people were arrested following a timely intervention by the Police, just moments after they allegedly stole from a vehicle in Tal-Pietà, the police said Monday.

Investigations revealed that these same two individuals were involved in at least five other thefts, all of which occurred in recent days.

Yesterday morning, the Police were informed that two men were breaking into cars in Triq San Luqa, Pietà. Officers immediately went to the scene and, after carrying out a search of the surrounding area in Telgħet Gwardamangia, noticed two individuals who matched the description that had been provided.

They were stopped immediately and arrested, and were identified as a 40-year-old man resident in Żabbar and a 49-year-old man resident in Pietà. In their vicinity, on the ground, a crowbar and pliers were found and seized.

Further investigations revealed that, in recent days, the suspects allegedly carried out thefts from vehicles in Tal-Pietà, Marsa, and Santa Venera.
