Two officers injured in St Julian's shooting named

The two police officers who were injured in St Julian’s this morning have been identified as Omar Sharif and Johann Vella.

A police spokesperson reported that one of the officers is in very serious condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to the face and neck, while the second officer sustained minor injuries.

A man has been arrested after a two-hour stand-off with the police during which shots were fired.
