Unauthorised Buġibba wooden structure has been removed, Planning Authority says

The Planning Authority said Wednesday that the unauthorised wooden structure that was erected in Buġibba’s foreshore for a jet ski operation has been removed by the individual concerned.

On Tuesday, the Planning Authority (PA) ordered the removal of an authorised structure, saying that its enforcement officers also instructed that all activity should be ceased immediately.

On Wednesday, the PA confirmed that “the unauthorised structure on the foreshore of Buġibba has been removed following direct instructions issued by its enforcement officers.”

It said that the individual responsible for this beachside structure cooperated with PA officials, “eliminating the need for any further enforcement action.”

The cubic wooden structure’s removal was ordered following a submitted report. On Tuesday morning, the mayor of St. Paul’s Bay, Censu Galea, wrote on Facebook that his local council was acting on the issue after he was informed that no permit was granted for the development of the structure by either the PA or the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA).

The PA had said that the individual responsible for this structure said that they had obtained clearances from other entities to go ahead with their jet ski operation, before ultimately being forced to shut it all down.

The Planning Authority said it “will continue to monitor the site to ensure full and sustained compliance with planning regulations and can take further action where necessary.”
