After the Nationalist Party exposed how the confusion in ARMS bills initially affected around 50,000 accounts, and after many consumers confirmed what the PN revealed, ARMS has continued trying to deny well-known facts through further misleading statements, the Nationalist Party said Friday.
At the same time that it is receiving thousands of complaints from affected consumers, and while it is having to correct numerous bills, ARMS continues to lie and claim that the system is functioning properly.
The latest ARMS statement, signed by COO Nikita Zammit Alamango, once again misled consumers and attempted to downplay the serious problem that was created by claiming that the issue affected only what it now calls a “small percentage”. Yet while she ignores the figures emerging from ARMS’s own internal emails, Zammit Alamango continues to refuse to state exactly how many accounts were in fact affected, the PN said.
No one still believes the lies of ARMS’s Chief Operations Officer, who has now confirmed in black and white that she has known about this problem for at least a year and concealed it from consumers.
Zammit Alamango, who is the President of the Nisa Laburisti branch and who signed this statement, claimed that ARMS does not engage in partisan discourse, while in the same statement she attacked the Shadow Ministers of the Partit Nazzjonalista, despite knowing that they are telling the truth, the PN said.
“Zammit Alamango stated that she does not comment politically, even though ARMS’s leadership today resembles a Labour club more than a public entity,” the PN said.
Meanwhile, the PN said it continues to receive numerous complaints about bills that were not granted the Eco-reduction over the past two years.
The fact that Minister Miriam Dalli has taken no action whatsoever following all this confusion at ARMS makes her complicit with Nikita Zammit Alamango, as together they attempted to conceal all this from consumers.
It is shameful how the ARMS leadership and the Labour Party, which today are one and the same, continue to blatantly lie to consumers. Every statement issued by ARMS or by the Government in an attempt to deny what happened only serves to confirm that what the Partit Nazzjonalista said is true.
Public trust in ARMS’s leadership has been completely lost, and no audit will change the fact that they lied to consumers. Their position is no longer tenable, and for as long as they remain in place, consumers can never again trust any bill they receive from ARMS or any statement it issues.
