87 drivers booked for irregularities, one was driving at 193 km\/h<\/p>\n
The police said officers booked 87 drivers who were committing irregularities today, one of them reaching a speed of 193 km\/h on the Bahar ic-Caghaq Coast Road where the limit is 70.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the police said 74 drivers were booked for overspeeding, while another 13 were infringing other traffic rules such as having no registration numbers, having tinted glass or disobeying traffic regulations.<\/p>\n
The operation involved members of the Traffic Police assisted by the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Special Intervention Unit.<\/p>\n
The Coast Road driver was one of 16 who was caught in the area. Other spot-checks were carried out in the Mellieha by-pass, where 50 drivers were caught overspeeding.<\/p>\n
