Vodafone outlets close temporarily due to staff attending hotel weekend party<\/p>\n
A number of Vodafone outlets across Malta<\/a> have had to close down after a number of staff attended the infamous Hotel Takeover party.<\/p>\n “We have been made aware of a number of employees who have attended the party,” a spokesperson told The Malta Independent<\/i>. “We have identified and contacted these employees and others who have had direct interaction with these individuals, and they are receiving our full support in accordance with the Public Health Authority guidelines.”<\/p>\n Some employees have been asked to work remotely, which has resulted in short-staffing across Vodafone’s other stores, with some stores needing to be closed temporarily. <\/p>\n “In addition, we have collaborated with the Public Health Authority and carried out deep cleaning. Our outlets are certified as being safe to use. We are closely following the recommendations given to us by the Public Health Authority, who have advised that there is no cause for alarm,” the spokesperson assured. <\/p>\n They added that the Authority has informed them that the risk to customers in minimal thanks to the safeguarding and social distancing policies the company has been implementing at its stores. <\/p>\n Last Thursday<\/a>, it was revealed that a COVID positive case attended a weekend-long party at Radisson Blu Hotel resulting in the infection of 17 other individuals that were reported throughout the week since then.<\/p>\n There are currently 34 active cases in all at the moment, a major spike from two weeks ago when Malta was close to having zero cases. <\/p>\n Numerous organisations have called for the ban of mass events <\/a>after the consequences of this specific party and some organisers have already started postponing <\/a>their parties for the next year. <\/p>\n However, virologist Dr Christopher Barbara <\/a>and the Chamber of Commerce <\/a>agree that parties do not necessarily need to be cancelled or banned as long as protocols are abided by.<\/p>\n
