SkolaSajf 2026 applications now open<\/p>\n
Applications for this summer’s SkolaSajf programme launched on Monday, 23 March and will remain open till 4 May 2026.<\/p>\n
The theme for this year’s edition of SkolaSajf is “Reach for the Stars.”<\/p>\n
The Minister for Education, Clifton Grima, made this announcement while speaking at St. Clare College, Pembroke Primary School.<\/p>\n
“SkolaSajf is part of our vision and work to ensure that the educational system reflects the realities and needs of the society we live in, and it is a service through which we nurture children from a young age through alternative learning that helps them in their future lives,” Minister Grima said.<\/p>\n
He mentioned SkolaSajf as part of the ongoing transformation in the Maltese education sector, saying that this programme offers, on a wider scale, another means of education.<\/p>\n
“We are continuing to strengthen all levels of the sector that contribute in the long term to addressing a number of social challenges from a young age,” he said. “We are doing this both through the policies that we are adopting, as part of the National Strategy for Education, but also with various measures and initiatives that we are adopting.”<\/p>\n
Minister Grima added that through SkolaSajf’s “excellent service,” children will continue to receive quality education over its eight-week period.<\/p>\n
SkolaSajf is provided by 54 centres across Malta and Gozo, between Monday and Friday. This includes educational centres for students with special educational needs.<\/p>\n
The attendance of children at SkolaSajf has grown over time and has today reached around 12,000 students.<\/p>\n
This year’s theme – “Reach for the Stars” – spreads an important message to children that through education, they can achieve their aspirations and dreams.<\/p>\n
Various employees, ranging from coordinators, playworkers, child support workers, sports playworkers, and playworker performing arts, are recruited to operate this service.<\/p>\n
During this announcement, three young students were awarded recognition and a gift for finishing in the top three places of the competition to design the logo for this year’s SkolaSajf programme. Andrea Sarica, 9, from Santa Tereża Primary School Lija-Balzan-Iklin, finished in first place; Julianne Borg, 6, from St. Benedict College Mqabba Primary School, ended up in second place; and Mattias Barbara, 7, from St. Margaret College, Zabbar Primary School A, finished in third place.<\/p>\n
