Man charged with heroin trafficking gets bail<\/p>\n
A man charged with heroin trafficking on Friday was granted bail under strict conditions by the court.<\/p>\n
The case forms part of the same investigation in which two individuals were arrested over alleged involvement in the trafficking of heroin on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The accused, Justin Zahra, a 38-year-old man residing in San Ġwann, is facing charges related to the supply, possession, and trafficking of heroin, along with money laundering.<\/p>\n
During proceedings, the court heard that Zahra is employed as a delivery driver.<\/p>\n
Evidence presented by the prosecution included WhatsApp messages and images allegedly showing drugs, as well as records indicating multiple transactions, which the prosecution argued point towards organised drug trafficking activity.<\/p>\n
Despite the seriousness of the charges, the court decided to grant bail under a number of strict conditions.<\/p>\n
Zahra was ordered to appear for all court sittings and is prohibited from leaving Malta without prior court authorisation. He is also prohibited from contacting prosecution witnesses.<\/p>\n
Additionally, he must sign at the Sliema police station between 2pm and 8pm, deposit €200, and provide a personal guarantee of €15,000.<\/p>\n
Inspector John Howard led the prosecution on behalf of the AG Daniel Tabone. The accused was assisted by defence lawyer Edward Gatt. Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit presided over the case.<\/p>\n
