Għajnsielem square to be regenerated in new government project<\/p>\n
The government is launching a regeneration project for Pjazza Madonna ta’ Loreto in Għajnsielem, the Gozo Ministry said in a statement. The project is funded by the Ministry itself and carried out with the Għajnsielem Local Council and parish. <\/p>\n
The aim of the project, according to the Ministry, is to improve the urban environment, increase public comfort and accessibility, and enhance the aesthetic and social value of the square. <\/p>\n
The project forms part of the “Gozo: Island of Villages” strategy and Malta Vision 2050. The Ministry said that the project emphasises sustainability, safety, accessibility, and long-term durability. <\/p>\n
Works will include the removal of deteriorated or incompatible structures, excavation and underground service upgrades, and new high-quality natural paving. Moreover, there will be the installation of urban furniture (such as benches), a modern bus shelter with a glass structure, and a water feature as a focal point. <\/p>\n
The Ministry also said that the project will include improved lighting and electrical systems, CCTV installation for security, and landscaping and irrigation systems. <\/p>\n
“We are investing in an environment that is not only visually beautiful, but also functional, safe and sustainable for everyone,” Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri said. <\/p>\n
