Woman charged with sexual offences against 13-year-old boy in her care<\/p>\n
A 43-year-old woman was charged in court on Wednesday with committing a series of sexual offences against a 13-year-old boy entrusted to her care.<\/p>\n
Priscilla Adriana Nappa from Qormi pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody after the court denied bail.<\/p>\n
The alleged crimes were aggravated by her position of responsibility over the minor at the time they were committed. The offences happened between August 2024 and March 2025.<\/p>\n
During the arraignment in front of Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici, her defence lawyer Joe Giglio asked for the proceedings to be held behind closed doors.<\/p>\n
However, prosecutor Jurgen Dalli opposed the media ban, noting that arraignments are generally held in open court.<\/p>\n
The court ultimately ruled that while the hearing itself would remain open, the media must not publish any details regarding the specific circumstances that led to the woman’s arrest.<\/p>\n
When bail was requested, the defence told the court that the matter surfaced last summer after the alleged victim reportedly bragged about the incidents with another minor. This triggered the police investigation.<\/p>\n
Giglio added that Nappa has had no further contact with the boy and that phone records would confirm she had blocked him.<\/p>\n
The prosecution objected to bail, pointing out the severity of the offences, and that witnesses, including the alleged victim and other minors, have yet to testify.<\/p>\n
The court denied bail and directed the prosecution to summon all witnesses to expedite the case.<\/p>\n
