The national event, which runs until April 19, brings together key players from Malta&#8217;s agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture, and animal welfare sectors.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"709\" data-start=\"442\">Widely regarded as a cornerstone in the country&#8217;s rural calendar, AgriFair serves as a platform where farmers, fishermen, producers, and innovators converge to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and explore the future of food production and sustainability in Malta, a government statement said.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1192\" data-start=\"711\">President Spiteri Debono toured various exhibitions featuring local produce, including fresh fruit, vegetables, and livestock. The displays highlighted the dedication and resilience of Maltese farmers and fishermen, as well as the sector&#8217;s ongoing efforts to modernise and adapt to new challenges. The presence of schoolchildren at the event underscored a growing emphasis on engaging younger generations and fostering appreciation for agriculture and rural life.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1509\" data-start=\"1194\">Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo described AgriFair 2026 as clear evidence of the continued growth and maturation of Malta&#8217;s agricultural and maritime sectors. He reiterated the government&#8217;s commitment to strengthening investment in innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1829\" data-start=\"1511\">&#8220;AgriFair is not just a showcase, but a platform where ideas and initiatives come together to build a stronger future for all operators in the sector,&#8221; the Minister said. He added that the government remains focused on supporting stakeholders to ensure long-term resilience in the face of increasing global challenges.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2200\" data-start=\"1831\">Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said emphasised the importance of the fair as both a promotional and educational opportunity. She noted that the event plays a crucial role in raising awareness about sectors that are vital to Malta&#8217;s economy and food security, while also encouraging public support for local producers.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2577\" data-start=\"2202\">AgriFair 2026 features an extensive programme of activities, including educational sessions, thematic discussions, product exhibitions, and family-oriented initiatives.
