Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici Square in Cospicua to be regenerated<\/p>\n
Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici Square in Cospicua will be given a new lease of life through a regeneration project aimed at families in Cospicua and all those who visit the area. This project was announced by Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri, and will transform the square into a more modern space.<\/p>\n
The project, led by the Cospicua Local Council, will move from concept to reality with the support of the Government. It will modernise infrastructure, enhance the area with new benches and trees, and create a welcoming space for people passing through or stopping to rest.<\/p>\n
Minister Byron Camilleri explained that in recent years the Government has given major importance to this area of the country. “A walk from Cospicua to Vittoriosa, Senglea or Kalkara is proof of this. Places that for years were neglected have been given new life. When I speak about the work carried out in the Grand Harbour and our belief in its potential, I am also referring primarily to the entire Cottonera area, where we are continuing, and will continue, with more projects, from open spaces to embellishment initiatives and new facilities across different sectors.”<\/p>\n
While speaking about the strong pace of investment in the area, the Minister emphasised the Government’s clear commitment not only to maintain but to strengthen this momentum, “I always insist that this pace must not only be sustained but supported and increased where necessary.” He concluded by expressing confidence in the Local Council, which will use the allocated funds to carry out the project, and reaffirmed that projects like this will continue to receive the necessary support.<\/p>\n
For his part, the Mayor of Cospicua, Marco Agius, welcomed the investment and thanked the Government for its continuous support towards the locality. He emphasised that this project has long been awaited by residents and will further improve quality of life in the heart of the community, while strengthening Cospicua’s identity and attractiveness.<\/p>\n
Through funding from the National Development and Social Fund, the Government is once again confirming that investment in localities is a clear priority, with work being carried out hand in hand with Local Councils to deliver concrete results.<\/p>\n
