Labour Party approves 26 candidates for general election<\/p>\n
The national executive of the Labour Party has approved a group of 26 candidates to contest the next general election on its behalf, the party said on Tuesday. <\/p>\n
This followed a rigorous process by the Candidate Commission led by Notary Charles Mangion, which analysed the applications of prospective candidates in the past weeks, the party said.<\/p>\n
This second group consists of 26 candidates, which includes 13 new candidates. <\/p>\n
The new candidates are: <\/p>\n
Fleur Abela – district 1 <\/p>\n
Ramona Attard – districts 6 and 8 <\/p>\n
Yana Borg Debono Grech – districts 1 and 8 <\/p>\n
Jesmond Bonello – districts 2 and 8 <\/p>\n
Georvin Bugeja – district 2 <\/p>\n
Joseph Bugeja – districts 1 and 8 <\/p>\n
Samantha Pace Gasan – district 7 <\/p>\n
John Grech – districts 1 and 8 <\/p>\n
Remenda Grech – district 5 <\/p>\n
Olaf McKay – district 1 <\/p>\n
Francesca Zarb – districts 1 and 11 <\/p>\n
Roderick Zerafa – districts 2 and 5 <\/p>\n
Carlos Zarb – district 12 <\/p>\n
The remaining approved candidates of the second group are: <\/p>\n

The Candidate Commission will continue this process in the coming days, the party said.<\/p>\n
The Labour Party had already approved 17 candidates<\/strong><\/a>, including five new ones, at the end of March.<\/p>\n Absent from the list of approved candidates is former Minister Roderick Galdes, who has now reportedly filed a complaint to the upper echelons of the party<\/strong><\/a>, after the PL’s Executive turned his candidacy down.<\/p>\n
