There was a turnout of just over 90% in early voting on Saturday, a week before Malta goes to the polls.<\/p>\n
The Electoral Commission said in a statement that as of 10pm on Saturday, 90.34% of those who registered to vote early had cast their vote.<\/p>\n
16,402 people had registered for early voting, and 14,818 of those people cast their vote.<\/p>\n
Early voting was open for those who will not be in the country on Election Day and to those who are undergoing medical procedures on that day.<\/p>\n
In the last election in March 2022, the turnout for early voting was of 85.15% for 9,658 registered early voters. In 2017, the early voting turnout stood at 91.7%.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, Assistant Electoral Commissioners and Police Officers will cast their vote, and on Thursday, patients at Mater Dei Hospital, Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, Karin Grech Hospital, Mount Carmel Hospital, and Gozo General Hospital will cast their vote.<\/p>\n
Sunday is the last day that voting documents can be picked up from police stations and local councils. From Monday to Thursday, voters will have to pick up their document from the Electoral Commission in Naxxar or the Experimental Farm in Xewkija if they are Gozitan.<\/p>\n
MaltaToday reported on Sunday that 34,309 voters, or 9.6% of the electorate, had yet to collect their voting document. <\/p>\n
