Bedingfield, PN leader, PL express support for injured police officers after St Julian's incident<\/p>\n
Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield has expressed his support for police officers who were injured in an incident in St Julian’s on Friday morning, saying his thoughts are with them and their families.<\/p>\n
In a Facebook post, Bedingfield said his thoughts were with the officers who are receiving medical treatment after they were attacked. He noted that one of the officers sustained serious injuries.<\/p>\n
“My thoughts are with them and with their families,” the minister wrote.<\/p>\n
Bedingfield also confirmed that the alleged aggressor, whom he identified as a Maltese national, has been arrested.<\/p>\n
The Minister thanked the Malta Police Force for what he described as its “extraordinary work” and pledged his full solidarity and support to officers.<\/p>\n
“In this difficult moment, you have my full solidarity and support. The entire country stands behind you,” he wrote.<\/p>\n
Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg also expressed its solidarity with the police officers injured during the incident in St Julian’s on Friday, while thanking members of the disciplined forces who worked to restore order.<\/p>\n

The Labour Party also expressed its full solidarity with the Police Force and hopes for a speedy recovery of the police officers injured while performaning their duties, in Ta’ Giorni.<\/p>\n
Attacks on members of the Police Force and on public officials are attacks on the security of our country. In fact, a few months ago the Labour Government strengthened laws against violence and aggression against members of the Police Force and public officials, so that whoever attacks public officers while on duty, faces more severe consequences.<\/p>\n
The Labour Party reiterates its full support for the Police Force and calls for investigations to be allowed to take their course while justice is done. <\/p>\n
Momentum also expressed its concern following today’s shooting in St Julian’s, during which police officers were injured while carrying out their duty.<\/p>\n
Our thoughts are first and foremost with the injured officers, their families, loved ones, and colleagues. We sincerely hope that both officers make a full and swift recovery, particularly the officer who remains in critical condition, Momentum said<\/p>\n
We also extend our thoughts to all those who witnessed this traumatic incident, including nearby residents, workers, and members of the emergency services who responded with courage and professionalism under extremely difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n
ADPD- The Green Party, in a statement, said the whole country is shocked by what happened in St Julian’s today, where we witnessed acts of violence carried out against construction workers, as an aggressor lit a bonfire beneath them in order to put their lives in clear danger. In the same incident, police officers were seriously injured by gunshots, and one of them is fighting for his life.<\/p>\n
Sandra Gauci, Chairperson of ADPD-The Green Party, said that ADPD condemns every act of violence and expresses solidarity with the entire police force, who with commitment maintain order in the country, despite the challenges and dangers they face daily.<\/p>\n
ADPD hopes that the victims of this incident overcome this threat to their lives so that they can reunite with their families as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
