Man grievously injured in Bormla hit-and-run, alleged driver arrested<\/p>\n
A 49-year-old man suffered grievous injuries after being hit by a car in Bormla on Sunday morning, with the alleged driver arrested shortly afterwards after allegedly fleeing the scene, police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Police were informed at around 11.30am that assistance was required in Triq Hanover, Bormla, after a person had sustained injuries.<\/p>\n
Officers who went to the scene established that the victim, a 49-year-old man who lives in St Paul’s Bay, had been struck by a Peugeot, whose driver allegedly fled the scene in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
The victim was assisted by a medical team before being taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified as having suffered grievous injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said that intensive investigations led officers to locate the vehicle involved a short while later in Triq San Ġorġ, Bormla.<\/p>\n
The alleged driver, a 37-year-old man who lives in Bormla, was subsequently arrested.<\/p>\n
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the dynamics of the incident, the statement said.<\/p>\n
