Young volunteers celebrate community spirit at International Youth Day festival<\/p>\n
Young people gathered at Kennedy Grove in St Paul’s Bay to celebrate creativity, talent and volunteering during a festival marking International Youth Day.<\/p>\n
The event, held on Wednesday, was organised by a group of young volunteers with the support of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) and the European Union Programmes Agency (EUPA).<\/p>\n
The festival formed part of the annual United Nations initiative recognising the contribution of young people to society, while providing a space for them to share ideas, develop their talents and strengthen connections within their communities.<\/p>\n
Organised around the themes of active participation and creativity, the event featured live music performances, creative workshops and stands run by young people showcasing different interests and initiatives.<\/p>\n
An artistic exhibition also provided young participants with an opportunity to showcase their creative work to the public.<\/p>\n
The festival also aimed to encourage networking, collaboration and greater involvement in community life, while giving young people a platform to present their skills and projects.<\/p>\n
Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia said that investing in young people meant investing in Malta’s future, adding that young people should play an active role in shaping their communities.<\/p>\n
She said the Government would continue creating opportunities for young people to express their talents, develop their potential and contribute through volunteering and active participation.<\/p>\n
“When we give space to young people, they are capable of leading initiatives that make a real difference in the community,” Farrugia said.<\/p>\n
The MCVS and EUPA thanked the volunteers who helped organise the festival and encouraged more young people to take part in initiatives aimed at strengthening communities and promoting active participation.<\/p>\n
