Cement on country road and illegible signs: what\u2019s happening in Gharghur?<\/p>\n
Gharghur residents have raised concerns about what is taking place in their locality, with a country road being covered in cement before works were stopped and a sign next to the Madliena bridge needing to be replaced.<\/p>\n
It was yesterday that Ramblers Malta, on their Facebook page, said that work on Triq Ghaxqet l-Ghajn – more commonly known as Top of the World – stopped after the intervention of the Superintendence for Cultural Heritage (photo left).<\/p>\n
Cement had been laid on this stretch of country road, with the same local council, a few days ago, expressing its dismay that people had ignored no entry signs and left foot-prints on the freshly-laid material (photo centre).<\/p>\n
Residents are questioning whether cement should be laid on the country road, next to the Victoria Lines. The Ramblers Malta said that a site inspection will be carried out later this month before the work can proceed.<\/p>\n
On another note residents have pointed out that a sign next to the Madliena bridge, which is supposed to give information about the structure, has been neglected for years and needs to be replaced (photo right). <\/p>\n
