Garage fire in Żebbuġ extinguished as nearby residents evacuated<\/p>\n
A structure fire broke out in a street-level garage in Żebbuġ on Thursday, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.<\/p>\n
The Civil Protection Department said firefighters from Stations 1, 3, 4, 5 and 8 were deployed to the scene, where the garage contained vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (ICE).<\/p>\n
The fire was successfully extinguished, with firefighters now carrying out cooling and ventilation procedures to ensure the premises are safe.<\/p>\n
A medical team from the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital, Transport Malta officials and police officers from the 6th District also assisted with the operation.<\/p>\n
Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution while emergency crews dealt with the fire.<\/p>\n
The Civil Protection Department said further information would be provided as it becomes available.<\/p>\n
